의학적 재활에 필요한 전문직으로서 그 직무의 성격은 장애인에 대해 행하는 일시적 혹은 영속적인 의료의 한 형태이며 의사의 처방에 근거하여 적절한 작업 활동을 통해 장애인으로 하여금 응용동작능력이나 사회적응능력의 회복을 가지게 하는 것이다. 작업치료사는 임상병리사, 방사선사, 물리치료사, 치과기공사, 치과위생사와 같이 의료기사의 일종이다.

6년 이내의 경력자들은 초봉 4만7천불 ~6만8천불을 번다고 되어있습니다.
6년 이상의 경력자들은 연봉 6만8천불 ~ 9만9천불을 번다고 되어있습니다.
즉, 6년 이하 경력자들의 초봉은 한국돈으로 연봉 3,584만 6430원 ~ 5,186만 2,920원 ,
6년 이상 경력자들은 한화로 연봉 7,548만 2,550원 까지 번다고 되어있습니다.
